"Sefner! If I see you doing this again, I will never order from your shop again!" Older lady said, looking to young man. She wasn't really angry, she just didn't like to see him risking like this.
Man, that had been named as Sefner, shook head a bit. "But Mrs. Owell, you know that if I will be slow, I will not get to you and others in time. Please, don't stop ordering from my mother's shop only because of that." He said, his voice full of woriedness.
"Oh, silly! I was just joking about stopping to order! You make most delicious meals that can be brought home in all this city! Now go, or you will need to be so terribly fast again." Woman laughed, her gray eyes lighting up with friendliness.
"Thank you, Mrs. Owell!" Sefner gave her a small smile as took money after handing her box. Then he turned around. After moment he was roaming down the, now quiet, street of New York on his old skateboard.
Sefner was around age of 19. He had spiky silvery gray hair. Many girls seem to melt when he looked to them with his dark brown, almost black eyes. Even his sight let know that he is very strong spirited, something in way how he walked showed that he is stubborn. He wore faded jeans and black T-shirt like it would be middle of summer. He wasn't to muscular but it was obviously that he was sportiest at free time.
After ten minutes Sefner stopped at doors of some shop. It wasn't very big, almost to small to be good for selling. Yet, it felt somehow very welcoming. It was cleanest and of best shops in nearest blocks, maybe in all ruined New York. It fall out of gray houses and rubbish streets. But that wasn't surprising. This was one of worse parts in all New York. No one really wanted to live here, it was almost like live on street, only with risk to loose what you called your personal cardboard box - flat or room.
Sefner picked up his skateboard. it had lost all of it's color and looked like it will break in peaces from one touch. But boy would never give it up. It was all what was left from his father after he fled to Island. Besides, it was much stringer and better as it looked.
"Mom, I am back!" He said as walked in shop. Small bell rang as he opened and closed doors. Shop was full of smells of food. He and his dear mother was running food shop, after all. A very special food shop, at least so said everyone who ate their food.
"I bet you scared hell of out Mrs. Owell once again!" Said woman as walked closer to him. She wasn't very old but there already was silver strands in her black hair. Her warm, brown eyes watched her son with love. Her voice, even if seemed to be joyful at first, was hiding deep tiredness. She was very thin, to thin to look absolutely normal.
"Mom, that's not my fault. I have to hurry." Sefner shrugged, giving fast glance around room. It was colorful, like rainbow had settled down to rest in this room. At one side of room was big window and door, from one side green but from other red. Then there was few tables covered by cloth with small flowers where their customers sometimes sat down to enjoy their food. And of course there was everything else as in other shop-cafe like shops. Maybe the colors was thing that attracted half of people in the beginning.
He saw that shop was empty at the moment. It hadn't been the best day for them. Mother had fainted just in the middle of talking and had really scared few people. Luckily, that hadn't made them forget about this place and mom hadn't hurt her self too.
"You should not be up. Go back to bed." Sefner said as took woman's hands gently. "You can't do everything by your self. besides, you said that few boys wanted to make some races tongiht..." She wanted to continue but boy silenced her with shook of head. "I can do everything by my self. Those boys can wait while I am done with shop. And if they can't - that isn't going to be last skateboard race so that is no big deal. So go to bed. Or I will carry you. And I mean it." His mother sighed. She didn't like when her son gave up things he loved in order to help her. But she knew how stubborn he is and right now she really didn't want to be carried away. "Alright, Sefner, I am going." She said and walked in other room, closing blue colored doors behind her quietly. She almost always moved like a ghost, without a sound.
Sefner sighed very quietly. Then he walked behind counter and carefully put down his skateboard in corner and sat down, waiting and hoping that someone will come.
While he waited with calm face, his thought runt around chaotically. <She is so sick, still, refuses to let me take over shop completely. She says I have to go to have some fun with other guys, that I should get a girlfriend. But how can I got to date with some other girl if all what I can think of is she? I better never get a girl friend as feel bad about going out with other girl while I love her.> Sefner didn't sigh this time, he knew there is no use. His rival till the end of time was his beloved one. Fate loved to play like this. His parents, for example, was separated too. His father was Different One but his mother was usual girl from New York. He hadn't even seen any photo of him, just stories of mother. And she always cried after she talked of him, even if she thought he don't know, so he had stopped to ask when he ten.
Time seemed to be slower as snail. It was always like that - when he wished moment to freeze, it runt away faster as wind but when he wished it to move on as fast as possible, it froze. So Sefner had no other choice but think while he waited not only for customers but for clock to move on too.
